With Marvel coming back out in force with a new release of comic book classics – my kids have gone nuts for anything with their superheroes on – from blinds in the bedroom to action figures, pencil cases, video games and of course – special edition Lego. The amount of merchandise available seems never ending, and is usually transient (if you let them play with it anyway). I’ve been a fan of Marvel stories since I was small, which my children will tell you was back in the black and white days! So I thought I would treat my little tykes to some superhero goodies that would last longer than the Christmas celebrations by kitting out their bedrooms with a superhero theme. Spiderman duvet cover with matching blinds for my youngest son’s bedroom was set off nicely with a spider-web shaped scramble net – a toy that was guaranteed to keep him amused for far longer than a posable action figure would! My daughter on the other hand specifically asked for matching blinds and bedcovers featuring Wolverine. She is however well into her teens and think she has more of a crush on Hugh Jackman than an interest in the wolf-headed wonder of the original comics, so I decided that her finishing touch would be a full-size cut out of the actor in full superhero clobber. Now that is what I call a cool Christmas present.
